P7 Learning

In P7,  we have just started learning about natural disasters – it is very interesting! We have been learning about the tectonic plates and what is inside the earth.  The earth has layers – the crust, the mantel, the outer core and the inner core.

We have been doing this thing called the First Minister’s Reading Challenge and we have been reading in  strange places.  Our class went to the changing rooms ,the staff room, read under our desks, the maths cupboard and lots more places.  It was super fun!

In P7, we were learning about ASD and how Einstein had ASD.  In numeracy, we have been doing  fractions, decimals and prime numbers.  We went to Edinburgh College last week for a STEM Day and we did a whole day taking part in lots of different activities.  We have been getting gym lessons from Edinburgh College and Penicuik High School pupils too.  We have just started a new topic – Natural Disasters and have been doing some writing about these.

In maths, we have been looking at fractions, data handling, square numbers, square roots, prime numbers and a few more things.  We have been doing basic maths games and times tables tests and other tests.

It has been really good fun!!

In P7, our topics have included World War Two, the Blitz, VE day, rationing, evacuation, the causes of World War Two  and we read the novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.  We really enjoyed  when Shaun came in for the classroom exhibition day.  The House Captains and the Vice Captains organised a  Wear Your Sunglasses to School Day.  We helped Mrs Stevenson do the assembly, chose the winners of the coolest class, pupils and teachers competitions and collected and counted all the money – it was great fun!
